Its 1:17 AM and I can hear the buzz of my Air-Conditioner trying to save me from the heat of my very own Singara Chennai. My mind racing from one topic to next, thinking and re-thinking as to with what and how I fill the next few lines. "What have we brought in to this world and What are we going to take away from it!", says Bhagavat Gita and given that its pretty much a valid statement, I can't help but wonder - "What's this big Rat race for??" We all (Me included) are tuned to the thought process that we ought to be the best and get the best - The best of education, the best job, the best chick, the best salary and maybe the best death possible!! And most of our entire life is dedicated chasing the BEST!! If we take a pause, think and let the other rats go ahead, we might realize this big FACT - BEST is the matter of the mind, the more we chase it, the more it runs away from us. And for all practical purposes this is a race tending towards infinity. The sad truth, albeit the small pause which we take and the wonderful wisdom which we get, is that We DON'T WANT TO QUIT THIS RACE :) and pondering the question of as to "Why can't we quit this race?" I stumble upon another question "Do I/We live My/Our LIFE on My/our terms?" The answer to this question is a simple No!! Inspite of all the claims of being "The so-called REBEL" all our life is lived in consideration of something or someone. In short this Human virtue of being selfish is greyed by an epitomisation of selflessness. What can beat this "Living your life in pursuit of Something/someone" as the biggest selfless act?? And yet we call ourselves selfish :) Maybe the biggest bliss of our life lies in being Selfish... Worrying only about thyself and considering nothing else... Maybe then we might take that Pause... Maybe then we might realize the fact "We have got nothing into this world and take nothing away from it.... other than US!!"

Sometimes in our life, we come across people. People who we think are so refreshingly different from others. People whom we feel are so like us, creating a bond and bringing us closer to them. These are the people, whose innocence we enjoy. And also enjoy their helplessness and the reaction on their faces, when we pull their legs for fun; and yet at the same time go all guns defending them when someone else tries to have fun at their expense. These are people whose success we are genuinely interested in. We criticise them when they go wrong, for the only reason that they get better and become the best. At the same time we are ones to give those encouraging words when their batteries are low and push them. There are very few people whom we come across. Wonderful people, in whose life we want to make an impact, an impact which makes this little stay one of the most memorable moments of their life. These people whom we don't mind, going out of our way to do something for them. These are people whose words in anger, whose acts which unknowingly hurts us are always forgotten, for these are people who we believe makes our stay an amazing experience. For these are people whose company we relish and these are the people who we genuinely believe think of our well-being in their hearts. For it is with these people, things go unsaid, where compliments are said not by the movement of lips, but by the curve of the lips and movement of eyes. There are very few people we come across in our lives, who just cannot lie to us convincingly not because they don't know to lie, but because they don't want to lie to us. There are very few people who we come across in our lives, for whom we don't mind lending our shoulders irrespective of what position we are in. And these are people whom you want to stay with no matter what or who comes against them. There are few people against whom we can afford our slip of tongue. People who can know our mood swings and know that words said out in anger are not words from the heart but just words of the moment. There are few people against whom, we can afford to take so much liberty that we say something annoying the previous day, just to put hands over their shoulders in the morning and walk with a laughter cracking jokes. These are people with whom sorry's don't matter, for these are people who know that we are grossly incapable of let alone hurt them, but even dream about hurting them. There are few people whose little acts of kindness and care touch us in such a way that when we come to think about our time with them, we only have nothing but good memories. And these are people whom we want to have fond memories of whatever little time they spend with us. There are very few people with whom we can be ourselves, not because we don't know to sham, but because we know that with these people there is no need to sham. For with them being yourself is so refreshingly OK, in a world which steals us of our identity and makes us act in a way which is completely different from us. These are the people whom you don't have to see or talk to stay in touch, for they are always in our memories. These are the people who know that we are just a phone-call/e-mail away from them.

One of my friends rant about Gandhi Jayanthi (Click here for the post) going unnoticed tickled my grey cells to write this post. The Question which came to my mind at the end of that post – Can I Afford to forget Gandhi Jayanthi or whatever Significant Date of national/International importance at the cost of something Personally significant?? The answer being Why NOT!! I really appreciate whatever the father of the nation has done to this country and I very well understand that the fruits of freedom, and the so called Fundamental Rights, which I am enjoying is attributed to the efforts of all those Freedom fighters over the past couple of centuries (Not Just Gandhi). At the same time I am aware of the fact that to have a stable future, to pay off my loans and to cater to the needs of the worldly compulsions, I need the so called VIT M. And one of the ways of earning that is by clearing those wonderful rounds of interviews and sealing the deal. Life is just about getting your priorities right, and I do not blame people if they have better things to do on D Day. It’s their life and it’s their choice. A person who cannot set his home right, who cannot be assured of the basic needs, cannot afford to think on lines of Self-Actualisation. The spirit of Freedom, our fathers and fore-fathers strived for, lies in the freedom of personal choice, in free country. And by exercising that spirit of My individual freedom, I paid my tribute to all those people who gave away their lives and soul fighting for it. I celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi not just on Oct 2, but all 365/366 days of year. My Case Rests…

Watched a movie (The forbidden Kingdom) and then played for sometime on my system and then suddenly realized that my Second Sem exams are about to start in just a week. Like a studious geek, I opened my group mail, copy pasting the time-table and the chapters from book of a few subjects in the sticky notes, a feature which I always think of using as a reminder to study, but till date have (un)successfully implemented. The future what is bound to happen you never know. But I decided that for the very immediate future, the studies can wait until the late noon.(Again a big uncertainty).

MBA - Masters in Business Administration, so far has been a decent journey and a great learning experience (Absolutely nothing on the academic front, say for the exception of Economics, which i relished studying, thanks mainly to Mr. Chetan Chitre).

My 1 year or so in Nasik has led to "Many firsts" in my life. For the first time i was (and still am) staying away from my home for such a long duration. My first experience with something called as hostel life (Which I am thoroughly relishing, thanks to my roomies, and the entire 4th floor of BH1). If someone ever asked me an year back about dancing on a dance floor, or having an occasional peg of vodka, I would have replied "Noooooooo Never ;)". Now I am equally comfortable doing both (if I say occasional, it is occasional and it is just vodka - nothing else, for ppl out there in chennai, nothing to get hyper about! ;) ). My love for nature has increased since my amazing trek to Brahmagiri (again my first real trek), the feel of wind, hitting on our faces and trying to offset our balance after a hard trek up, gives me an refreshing feel even at this hour.

The most interesting thing, for the first time in life, I have developed an interest in observing my fellow beings. And this has been the most wonderful (and sometimes dangerous :P) experience/learning till date of my MBA life(and i guess the dangers and adventures will continue for another year). Even the likes of Sigmund Freud, Charles Darwin and Wilhelm Wundt would be bamboozled and pleased to observe such a wonderful and dynamic ecosystem and Me being just another me in this system is no exception.

I have had a plethora of emotions, (some very refreshing and some emotionally sapping) during this wonderful voyage of learning and I am listing down a handful of inferences.

The manner in which people handle the most complex of issues in the most simplest manner leaves me in awe.

How the simplest and silliest of things are blown into the most complicated disasters is a bigger conundrum, for which I doubt, I will be able to zero in on a major reason.

People know a lot and yet love to be ignorant, which reminds me of an adage "Ignorance is bliss". But is this ignorance good? I am still pondering.

Humans love being praised and hate being criticized. Even if we realize we are wrong, it is sad to see that we love defending our wrongs, just because it is OURS. We just hate genuine critics and brand them as jobless, good for nothing a**h****.

And equally so, Humans love being critical. It is just so damn hard for us to praise others, even if it was the most amazing achievement. We have this typical attitude of "Oh thats nothing, Even I could have done that".

And talking about criticism, Most/Majority of these are doled out at the back of a person. We generally lack the guts to say on the face "a wrong as a wrong", Humans have this wonderful potential of smiling and saying to a person "Wow that was nice" and go behind his/her back and say "That was nothing".

We are brilliant at pointing problems and hardly try to zero in on solution, because we feel that finding problem is our only job and there is always another creature lurking round the corner to give out solutions. Or maybe we think that God will dole out solutions as a freebie for having created us!

We love taking things and people for granted. No explanation needed on that front i believe.

We are incapable of taking "No" for answer. We always need "YES" and love to force others to say YES and amazingly manage to do that and that is because people don't want to step up and say NO as an answer. In short we hate to listen to and say a "NO".

We are so diplomatic, that we can kill someone smiling on his/her face and he/she would feel like we are Gods granting them a boon.

And here goes the last one which i can state safely followed by one free advice. ;)

If we are angry at someone and try blasting him/her out, thats the only time, we really speak our minds out about the particular person.

Free Advice : It is always wise to listen to an angry person, because thats the time, when he/she unknowingly speaks loads of truth (which is a summation of all the negative thoughts a person has in his/her mind about you) which would never come out.

I know a few people will read this and many will never accept it, saying what was written was a piece of bullshit, which after my list of inferences would be surprising only if "if this piece of essay was not termed bullshit ;)".

I would love to finish this post with a quote my friend and roomie (fortunately or unfortunately ;) ) Aniket here "I don't mind. You don't matter".

Till my next post, adieu.

KP - TheDevilzAdvocate

PS: If you think, that this article is based on you, then you may be absolutely right(PUN INTENDED)
Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-50443190680368052722010-03-03T23:52:00.000-08:002010-03-04T00:32:17.865-08:00Bored................A Mixed Masala POST

Hi,
It has been quite a long time since I wrote anything and here I am sitting in my office, having no scripts to run/debug, BORED. Was reading about Swami Nityananda scandal, which is creating quite a buzz around. Yet another GODMAN falls and I firmly believe, it is people like us who are to be blamed for pumping so much money into these so called Godmen, who spend it on actresses and other women. A true saint is never after money nor any other materialistic possession. A true saint will never materialize ROLEX watches out of air, for industrialists and politicians. In short a true saint never advertises himself. So for people who still believe in such fake Men proclaiming to be Avatars of God, its high time you wake up.... JAGO RE. If you are gonna be blind even after all these things, if you refuse to see the truth which lies in front of your eyes and if you wish to live in ignorance, SO BE IT. Don't blame God for your ignorance.

For people who have not been in touch with me, here are some updates... Currently I am in the Garden city of Bengalooru. And have had quite a few experiences in this short stint of 20 odd days. First it was my experience hunting for houses. Man it's tough to get a decent place with a moderate rent and advance. And if you are a Bachelor, people take it for granted that you drink, bring home some gals and enjoy.... At last we got a home 15 mins walk from our office, the rent was hiked from a supposed 5k to 5.7k, the reason being we are bachelors(I am sick of this reason now), but given that we had no other go under given circumstances, like any other Indian, said OK. The concepts of fighting for justice, fighting for righteousness doesn't hold good, when you want things get done.

My second experience worth mentioning was I went by air for the first time in my life(All expenses paid from my VERY OWN POCKET....IT DID BURN QUITE A BIG HOLE ;)). Took a flight from Bengalooru international Airport to Pune. It was quite a hectic period from FEB 11 - FEB 19 2010. For a person who rarely travels, I visited 5 cities in the span of 8 days..... BLR -> PUNE, PUNE -> CHENNAI, CHENNAI->BLR, BLR->MUMBAI, MUMBAI->NASHIK, NASHIK->MUM, MUM->BLR. I also made a record of sorts sleeping for 18 hours in a single day. Slept at 12AM and woke up at Half past 6 PM.

How different is Banglore from chennai??
I see loads of differences, The climate is on the cooler side. I went to chennai last weekend and told my mom "Enna ma evalo suda eruke"(What mom, why is it so hot?). My mom retorted, "10 naal banglore la erundhutu vandhu 23 years chennai climate suda theridha? (Having stayed in Banglore for 10 days, Do you find 23 years of chennai climate so hot??)
Chicks out here in Banglore are quite HOT as well as SEXY. But intha figures laam vazhkaiku udhavathu. Semma Dhum adikaralunga. Pathu nanae Aditen(But these chicks won't suit if you are looking to spend the rest of your lives with them.(again depends on perception... This perception applies for me) They smoke like hell...) I saw the true meaning of women's equality out here. Women smoke as much as or more than men do;)

The prices out here are on the higher side, A floor mop which costs 50 bucks in chennai costs 75 bucks here, Only Dosas and Idlies are on par or a little less compared to chennai.

I don't think there is nothing else to type... I am now getting bored of typing this post ;) So let me end this post with one more news from my side. Got a call to join MBA in SIOM, Nashik(Operations) and SCIT, Pune(IT Management). So contemplating which one to join and which one to leave. So if you have any suggestions buzz me up. Guess this is the beginning of things to come.. Hoping things go good. Until my next post ADIEU.

YOURS
KP - DEVILZADVOCATEKrishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-66173533516348963112009-04-20T07:04:00.000-07:002009-04-20T07:20:28.987-07:00DNA Computing - Thinking beyond SiliconHi all,
This article was written by me during my college days. I was just goind through the folders in my system when I stumbled upon this article and thought can share this piece of information with ya. Hope you have a good read

KP - The DevilzAdvocate

DNA Computing
Human Cells – A predecessor or successor to silicon?

“Have you ever wondered as to how genetic information is transferred from one generation to another? Have you ever pondered over how the mutations and evolutions take place? And will you believe if it is said that all these activities are done by millions of supercomputers present inside living organisms? If not, welcome to the world of DNA Computers.”

DNA Computer- A stumper that intrigues us
A DNA computer is a molecular computer that works biochemically. DNA is modified bio-chemically by a variety of enzymes, which are tiny protein machines that read and process DNA according to nature's design. There is a wide variety and number of these "operational" proteins, which manipulate DNA on the molecular level. Many copies of the enzyme can work on many DNA molecules simultaneously. Thus we can say that a DNA computer works in a massively parallel fashion.

Computer with a Chemistry Lab Mien?

The basic notion of a computer, having various Input and output devices and software running them does not fit here. A DNA computer is nothing but a mixture of solution containing the DNA strands and the enzymes taken in a test tube coaxed to crunch algorithms and spit out data.

DNA VS SILICON
"The inside of a computer is as dumb as hell, but it goes like mad!" was a statement made by Richard Feynman with regards to the systems based on the Von Neumann architecture. DNA computers on the other hand are non von Neumann machines which are capable of massive parallel processing and hence the process of computation is approached from a different perspective. Typically, increasing performance of silicon computing means faster clock cycles, where the emphasis is on the speed of the CPU(increasing it will cost you more money :) ) and not on the size of the memory. For DNA computing, the power comes from the memory capacity and parallel processing.

PATRIARCH OF DNA COMPUTING:
In 1994, Leonard Adleman solved directed Hamiltonian path (HP) problem popularly known as the Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP) in seven days. It was a problem that an average desktop machine could solve in the blink of an eye. But what’s special about his work that we are talking about? It was a landmark demonstration of computing at molecular level. His work brought into limelight the power of DNA in computing. Adleman considered seven nodes each representing a city to solve the problem.
Steps involved in Adleman’s experiment:

Generate all possible routes.

Select itineraries that start with the proper city and end with the final city.

Select itineraries with the correct number of cities.

Select itineraries that contain each city only once.

All of the above steps were accomplished with standard molecular biology techniques.

APPLICATIONS – An Overview:
CRYPTOGRAPHY:
A field in which DNA computing appears to be particularly interesting is the cryptography. The DES is the Data Encryption Standard that is the IBM's widely used encryption procedure. It uses a 56 bit key to encrypt 64 bit messages. The encryption procedure is known, and the security is based only on the secret encryption key. In [Bon95a], a molecular program that breaks DES is proposed. That is, one (plain-text, cipher-text) pair is given, and the key that maps the plain-text into the cipher-text is found. Conventional (silicon based) computers - using brute force - would take 104 years to solve the same problem (finding the key that maps a particular pair).
SOLVING NP PROBLEMS:
NP problems are a class of problems which have an exponential increase in time complexity as the number of instances increase. DNA Computers can be used to solve NP class of problems in relatively lesser time because of the parallel processing ability. This is best illustrated by Adleman’s experiment.
BIOMEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL FIELDS;
DNA Computers can monitor blood in vitro levels. If there are any chemical imbalances, the DNA would synthesize the needed replacement and release it into blood maintain equilibrium. Autonomous bio-molecular computers may work as doctors in a cell.

WILL DNA SUPPLANT SILICON??
DNA's key advantage is that it will make computers smaller than any computer that has come before them, while at the same time holding more data. One pound of DNA has the capacity to store more information than all the electronic computers ever built; and the computing power of a teardrop-sized DNA computer, using the DNA logic gates, will be more powerful than the world's most powerful supercomputer. More than 10 trillion DNA molecules can fit into an area no larger than 1 cubic centimeter (0.06 cubic inches). With this small amount of DNA, a computer would be able to hold 10 terabytes of data, and perform 10 trillion calculations at a time. By adding more DNA, more calculations could be performed.

However, setting up and extracting results from a DNA computer can take days and sometimes week. The fact that DNA doesn’t behave as expected makes things difficult to obtain accurate results. Human intervention is required in each step of result synthesis which brings in the drawbacks of human errors. Ehud Shapiro, whose team has the Guinness record for “the smallest biological computing device” says, “I think they will live together happily and be used for different applications”.

Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-31190507322340611372009-04-05T07:46:00.000-07:002009-04-18T22:34:59.230-07:00HOW TO EARN MONEY ONLINE - PART 2
Hi. Hope things are going fine on your side. This is the second and final part of How to earn money online series. The future posts in this category will deal with specific sites. Before proceeding further we will see a brief gist of what we discussed in the previous post. My last post dealt mostly on earning money through blogs. We saw various methods like contextual ads, text links and text links ads, banner advertising among various types of advertising strategies. Sponsered reviews and paid surveys were also discussed. Please refer to How to Earn Money online - Part 1 to read more.
In this part we will be discussing about three major things namely Paid to post, Paid to Click Paid to Read and Paid to surf. Compared to the methods discussed in Part 1, these methods are relatively low on money making capability. But at the end of the day our major objective would be to maximize our earnings as much as possible. With that note in mind lets get started.

PAID TO CLICK(PTC):
Paid to click is the easiest way to earn money online. The only thing which you need to do is get registered with a PTC site, click on the advertisement listed and wait for the 20 second (may vary) timer elapse. Your account will get credited with a maximum of 0.01$. If you have a referral your referral click will fetch you 0.005$. The best way to earn using PTC sites is by building a strong referral base. There are some sites which will allow you to rent referrals or buy referrals. If you have a bit of money to invest on buying referrals then you can easily get the money you invest in days. I am currently a member of Neobux. I will update the list of PTCs soon.
A note of caution, there are loads of PTC scam sites. So do your research before joining them or investing money in them.

PAID TO SURF(PTS):
I do not look at Paid to Surf sites as a money making oppurtunity, rather I look at it as one of the method to drive traffic to my blog. The main idea behind PTS surf is link exchange (i.e) If you view a site for 20 seconds(the timer again varies) someone else will view your site for the same period of time. Before joining a PTS surf one must look at the credit exchange ratio if its 1:1, it means for every site you surf your site will also be surfed once. If its a 2:1 ratio, your site will be surfed for every two sites you surf. Based on the amount of surfing you do, traffic will be generated for your site. PTS also pays you a small amount for every 1000 or 1500 credits (1 site surfed = 1 credit). I would suggest that you look at PTS as a enabler to get traffic to your site so that you can use advertisements. As a stand alone I do not recomend PTS as a money making prospect. Easyhits4u is very reliable PTS.

PAID TO POST(PTP):
Do you like to exchange your view on various topics? Do you like discussions on your topics of interest? Do you enjoying posting in forums, then Paid to Post is the best way to earn money. PTP pays you money for posting in forums. There are sites which offers you a flat rate and there are PTP sites which offers a variable rate based on their algorithms. You can easily earn around 1 - 2$ a day by using PTP. MyLot and Destroy Debt are a few PTP sites which i recommend. They also have a referral program which can add to your income base. A word of caution with respect to PTP - They pay you for your quality view. Do not spam and do not post things like "I agree with you", "yes you are right" and so on. They may remove such posts and deduct the money credited to your account.
P.S: If you start PTP it may end of as an addictive hobby, which you would never regret.

PAID TO READ(PTR):
Paid to Read is similar to PTC , the only difference being you are paid for reading a advertisement e-mail. You need to open the link and confirm the link to get paid. Again there is a referral system and the basis of payment(flat rate or point basis) varies from site to site. I do not prefer PTR because it will spam your mail account with loads of mails. But if you are willing then Take the Internet Back is a site I would recommend.

This concludes the two part series on how to earn money online. If you have further clarifications or comments please feel free to contact me and i will be more than willing to help you out. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. Hope you make money, loads of em.

Till my next post. The oppurtunites to earn with a Blog/Website is enormous - Blogging, Advertisements, Affliate programs, survyes, Pay to click, pay to surf.. the list goes on. But the whole idea is to make money effectively and quickly. This post deals with a few effective ways. Hope this helps you get started with the path of earning money.

Direct Methods

1. PPC Advertising Networks

Google AdSense is the most popular option under this category, but there are also others. Basically you need to sign up with the network and paste some code snippets on your website. The network will then serve contextual ads (either text or images) relevant to your website, and you will earn a certain amount of money for every click.
The profitability of PPC advertising depends on the general traffic levels of the website and, most importantly, on the click-through rate (CTR) and cost per click (CPC). The CTR depends on the design of the website. Ads placed abode the fold or blended with content, for instance, tend to get higher CTRs. The CPC, on the other hand, depends on the nice of the website. Mortgages, financial products and college education are examples of profitable niches (clicks worth a couple of dollars are not rare), while tech-related topics tend to receive a smaller CPC (sometimes as low as a couple of cents per click).
The source of the traffic can also affect the overall CTR rate. Organic traffic (the one that comes from search engines) tends to perform well because these visitors were already looking for something, and they tend to click on ads more often. Social media traffic, on the other hand, presents terribly low CTRs because these visitors are tech-savvy and they just ignore ads.

2. CPM Advertising Networks

CPM advertising networks behave pretty much as PPC networks, except that you get paid according to the number of impressions (i.e., page views) that the ads displayed on your site will generate. CPM stands for Cost per Mille, and it refers to the cost for 1,000 impressions.
A blog that generates 100,000 page views monthly displaying an advertising banner with a $1 CPM, therefore, will earn $100 monthly.
CPM rates vary with the network, the position of the ad and the format. The better the network, the higher the CPM rate (because they have access to more advertisers). The closer you put the ad to the top of the page, the higher the CPM. The bigger the format (in terms of pixels), the higher the CPM.
You can get as low as $0,10 and as high as $10 per 1,000 impressions (more in some special cases). CPM advertising tends to work well on websites with a high page views per visitor ratio (e.g., online forums, magazines and so on).

3. Direct Banner Advertising

Selling your own advertising space is one of the most lucrative monetization methods. First and foremost because it enables you to cut out the middleman commissions and to determine your own rates. The most popular banner formats on the web are the 728×90 leaderboard, the 120×600 skyscraper, the 300×250 rectangle and the 125×125 button.
The downside of direct banner advertising is that you need to have a big audience to get qualified advertisers, and you will need to spend time managing the sales process, the banners and the payments.

4. Text Link Ads

After Google declared that sites selling text links without the nofollow tag would be penalized, this monetization method became less popular. Many website owners are still using text links to monetize their sites, though, some using the nofollow tag and some not.
The advantage of this method is that it is not intrusive. One can sell text links directly through his website or use specialized networks like Text-Link-Ads and Text-Link-Brokers to automate the process.

5. Sponsored Reviews

PayPerPost pioneered this model, with much controversy on the beginning (related to the fact that they did not require disclosure on paid posts). Soon other companies followed, most notably Sponsored Reviews and ReviewMe, refining the process and expanding the paid blogging model.
Joining one of these sponsored reviews marketplaces will give you the opportunity to write sponsored posts on a wide range of topics. Not all bloggers are willing to get paid to write about a specific product or website (because it might compromise the editorial credibility), but the ones who do are making good money out of it.
If your blog has a big audience you could also offer sponsored reviews directly, cutting off the commissions of the middleman.

6. Paid Surveys and Polls

There are services that will pay you money to run a small survey or poll on your website. The most popular one is called Vizu Answers. Basically you need to sign up with them, and select the kind of polls that you want to run your site. Most of these services operate under a CPM model.

7.In-text Adverting

In-text adverting networks like Kontera and Vibrant Media will place sponsored links inside your text. These links come with a double underline to differentiate them from normal links, and once the user rolls the mouse over the link the advertising will pop. Should the user click on it the site owner will make some money.
Some people make good money with this method, but others refrain from using it due to its intrusiveness. It is also interesting to note that very few mainstream websites have experimented with in-text advertising.

Watch out this space for more individual reviews and more ways to earn money. I will keep you posted. Till then. Its DevilzAdvocate singing off.

Updates: How to Earn money online - Part 2

Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-37445515932148568282009-03-24T05:46:00.000-07:002009-03-26T09:47:07.608-07:00A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO HINDUISM - PART 1

Hello guys. Hope everything is going fine. There were loads of topic on which i would love writing, but after contemplating for sometime Hinduism, the third largest religion, emerged as my best bet. So what do I write about Hinduism. Writing about a religion is an enormous task, an unsurmountable mountain. Hinduism being one of the most ancient religions with loads of scriptures and stories I was(still am) at a loss as to where to begin and where to end. The major objective of these series of posts will be to create and awarness of what Hinduism is to people who know little or nothing about this ancient religion. I openly declare that i have no expertise or authority over Hindusim. What I do have is the stories and practises passed on to me by my ancestors and also the experience of practising this religion for close to 23 years. So lets begin our journey. In this post I will be dealing about the creation of the universe and also discuss the duties of 3 major Hindu Gods.
There are differnt stories with respect creation of the universe. The followers of Lord Shiva (Saivites) believe that the eternel sound of OM(pronounced as aum) and the eternel jyothi (the supreme fire, known to symbolize Lord shiva) created the oceans and Lord Vishnu residing on the serpant.A lotus which grew from Vishnu's navel and from it came Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma in is said to have given the shape for Lord Shiva.
The followers of Lord Vishnu(Vaisnavites) believe that at the begining existed a ocean with Lord Vishnu sleeping on his giant serpant adisesha immeresed in deep yoga. When Lord woke up from the state of his yoga he created Brahma, who in turn created Lord Shiva.
Another belief states that the eternal Lord with his desire to create the universe, created the ocean and placed his seed in it, This seed turned into a golden egg whose brilliance surpassed even that of sun. From the egg came Brahma, who created the heavens and the earth and other beings of the world.
In short the Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were the first inhabitants of this universe. Now let us see in short about each of these three major dieties.

Lord Brahma:
Lord Brahma is the "God of creation". He is a four faced god seated on a lotus. He has four hands with kamandalam(the water pot), the Vedas, the sruva and rosary beads in each hand. His vehicle is swan and his abode is called as SatyaLoka. Satyaloka is considered to be the place atop The Maha Meru/ Sumeru/ Meru mountain. The Meru is considered as the axial point for the universe. Lord Brahma's wife is Saraswathi/Vidya, the Goddess of education and knowledge

Lord Vishnu:
Lord Vishnu is the "God of Maintainence/Preserving". Lord Vishnu has a dark complexion with four hands. He weilds a lotus, A conch, a Disc(Sudharshana Chakra) and a mace in each of his four hands. He resides in Vaikunta, which is considered to be in the middle of the great ocean. He rests on AdiSesha, the giant serpant. His wife is Lakshmi/SriDevi, the Goddess of money, wealth and prosperity.

Lord Shiva:
Lord Shiva is the "God of Destruction". Lord Shiva is considered to be wearing a deer skin. With Cobra adorning his neck. Ashes smeared all over his body and weilding a trident(called a trishool). Apart from the two eyes shiva is said to possess the third eye. The third eye symbolises the vision of reality. Lord Shiva resides in Kailasha in Himalayas, which gives him the name Kailashnath/kailashapathi. He is said to have the river Ganges/Ganga Devi in his locks and hence the name Gangadhara. His wife is Uma/Parvathi, the Goddess of Shakti (strength and power). Uma also represents the nature or prakriti symbolizing all the perishable matters in this universe.

Thats it on this post folks. In the next post we will see about the devas, asuras, the rishis (sages) and the churning of ocean by devas and asuras.

KP- The DevilzAdvocate

P.S : Given the enormity of the series, I would like to have a few partners helping me out. Its been seven months and i think this period was enough to get a snapshot of how things work in the industry. There was this interesting quote which i came across online, "The greater your capacity for hard work, the more rewards fall within your grasp. The deeper you can dig, the more treasure you can potentially find.", and I also found a place where this is an exception. Any guesses?? Well its our very own IT industry. And if its recession time the situation gets even worse. I asked one of my friends about his work, and his answer left me to with one question - "Is it really worth it??". Here goes his story. He goes to work at 7 30 AM in the morning and gets back home by 2:00 AM (The time the thief enters home to loot our money and other valubles). For people who argue saying "Well this is recession time, and you need to work", listen on. I told him that he has his weekends to rejuvenate and this being recession he shouldn be complainin much. He replied immediately saying "Machi they ask me to come on saturdays and sundays, hence i end up working 7 days a week". My next question was "Dude are you being paid extra money? For the amount of effort you put in you need to earn money accrodingly". His answer was on expected lines "a big NO".

Well i do understand that it is recession and these are hard times, but how much of this can people take? This guy being a bachelor has a lesser impact. Imagine the impact it will have on his family if he is married guy with kids. Money is important. We must earn money to support our family and feed em. But at what cost do we earn money? At the cost of our health? At the cost of our family? At the cost of our life? There is a thin line which seperates labor that sustains life and labor that ruins life. I think its high time our bosses think about their family and the amount of time they spend with them. Our life deserves things much better than making money and improving social status.

Until my next post
Adieu

KP - The Devilzadvocate

Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-21840412192872676312009-03-09T10:18:00.000-07:002009-03-21T10:28:35.622-07:00Krishna Pass HOGAYA!!!!

Hello Everybody,
So what am i going to talk about. Well the name of the post said i passed in something. So what did i clear which warrants me to write a post. Now that I am no more a college student(I never cared, as i knew i would clear most of my AU papers). The exam which i cleared is one of the exams which i have been dreading for around one year now. No prizes for guessing. Its my JLPT(Japanese Language Proficiency Test). My previous posts would have given you an idea as to how i struggled grasping the damned language. I have not cleared any tests except the very first test(It was a partial open book test). We were saying three months more to exam so lets study, then said two months yaar, we can study and finally it was exactly 30 days to go with little or no preparation for the exam. Our company having invested a good amount of money on this training was expecting some returns and the pressure started to build. Moreover we were on a bond, which meant we may have to pay money if we didn’t clear. The final 30 days the real studying started. I was jumping from kanjis to meanings to grammar studyin nothing properly. As days went by i grew somewhat in confidence cose i started understanding the questions(till that month all our answers were based on probability ). But that was not enough for me to clear any of the mock/model tests. The final month had elapsed. In all my practise tests i was got somewhere around 60% in 2 sections, but i lacked practise in the other section. TO give a brief idea about the sections. The JLPT is made up of three sections.
1. Kanji and Vocabs
2. Kikitori(Listening)
3. Grammar

Section 2 I had no time to prepare. We needed 60% overall to clear the exam(240/400).
The day of exam came and i went into the exam hall with the distinction of clearing just a single test out of the n number of tests we had written. Section 1 was easy and i was confident that i will get 60+/100 in that section.
Kikitori was a disastor. While the listening section was in progress, I could hear only Naka muka naka muka song (cinema songs which was played in a nearby building was heard more prominently). I just trusted probability and GOD. Special thanks to Siddhart.
Grammar was moderate. I thought i would get around 110-120/200 allocated in this section.
The exam got over and it was a big relief for most of us. Next thing i did after finishing the exam was to enjoy a movie at satyam. Results would be published in around two months time(We wrote the exams on december the results would come around feb end) and we knew that was loads of time to elapse…
One fine day, in the end of february, while i was attending a training of Unix and C my friends said the result had come and i had passed. I never bothered to know my marks. Knowing that I had cleared was a big relief(Given that i have never failed a major exam). After a few days i went to collect my marksheet. It read….
Writing-Vocabulary - 72/100
Listening - 57/100
Reading-Grammar - 123/200
Total - 252/400
3rd Level Passed
I had just managed to clear.
I cleared the first and the last test(the test which mattered the most).
I cleared JLPT level 3

Until my next post
Adieu
KP - The Devilz advocate
Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-34652086956825096682008-06-10T11:42:00.000-07:002009-03-21T10:29:11.577-07:00Me Vs NihongoHello everyone. Hope everything is fine. Its been long time, rather a veryyyyyyyyyyy long time since my post. Its been 25 days since my exams got over and its 11 19 PM i just decided to write something. But what shall i write? After a bit of delibration i decided to write something light (In the sense that i don't get a WAR of Comments ;) ). Well if u hadn't guessed it right from the topic, this post is gonna be about my experiences learning "Nihongo". Well the etymology of this word is 'Nihon' -> Japan and 'Go' -> language. In short my experiences durin my japanese classes. If i run a small flashback my tryst with 'Nihongo' started in december when the organisation which recruited me gave an option of learning japanese. Well fortunately or unfortunately (This only time will answer. Hope its former than the latter). I was one of the 20 students who got enrolled from my college. The classes were scheduled Tue, Thur and Sat 5 30 PM to 8 30 PM.

The first class started in december. My teacher asked us what we knew about japan. Those were the days when i was playin AOE2 quite regularly and i just said about the korean war and stuff thanks to AOE history of civilzation menu. And i barely controlled my giggles when my teacher said " You have a very good knowledge about the country's history and its relationship with neighbours". Then came our first test. Most of us weren't familiar with the alphabets and it turned out to be a open book test and that was the only test in which i have managed a PASS. We were supposed to finish with our JLPT Level 4 and level 3 portions before we join the company. Days passed, months passed JLPT level 4 came to an end. A mock test was conducted. It was a 3 hour test based on the JLPT pattern. As usual most of us didn't study a thing as those were the days when our univ exams were nearin in. Our teachers got changed and we had a native japanese teacher or 'Sensei' teaching us.

The first part of the test was based on 'kanji' reading. Well if u dont knw what 'kanji' is, jus google and U will defintely get an idea of the difficulties. There were a couple of kanjis which i could recognize, the others were just a combination of lines and curves which created more confusion than clarity. (In short jelabi ah pichu pota mathiri erundhuchu).

The second part was listening comphrehension. In short it was a total disaster. Suthama pesarthu onnume purila. There were few known words amdist words which can be termed as 'noise'. The third part was grammar. It was relatively ok compared to the previous two parts. When the results were announced, there were no surprises to know that out of a class of 26 only 3(ya all 3 were gals) had passed.

Well my japanese classes (were,) is (and will) never boring, thanks due to the people around me. Its loads of fun. People gettin teased and people teasin. There's Mimicry Mannan "G K(arthik)". The day he mimiced Hari's, mine and host of others voices is unforgettable. Hari is known for his Idly and Getti chutney dialouge. Aashiq is the favourite of our 'Sensei' for whenever the words "BEER" and "WINE" comes his name is attached to sentence or a reference is made to him. Then there is PUNTER POONAI a.k.a Sai Ganesh and NAVEEN who's names are taken whenever sentences with 'DATING' and 'GIRL FRIENDS' are formed. U can guess the atmosphere and words exchanged when these sentences are formed!

RAGHAVENDRAN is the most regular person of our class. He always comes late ( It will definitely rain if he comes early) and once he gets settled down in his seat switches on the computer and starts browsin. And on IPL and other match days he constantly updates us with the scores. There is always a competion in these aspects between Raghav and Vishwesh(Velammal). Rendu perum potti potukitu late ah varuvanga and rendu perum potti potukitu scores papanga.

Did i miss anyone? Ah the class is never complete without VADAI san a.k.a Sriram. He is known for his intellectual questions. One day he had asked our teacher "What will you do if there is a Volcano??". WHat a quesion!! WHat a question!! A question which can stump the greatest of intellects in this universe. The rest of the class supports these great stalwarts by constant appreciation for their acts.

Thus goes my experiences durin my japanese classes. The recent test i got 7 on 30 and lets hope i get better marks in future tests. Yah athuku padikanum theridhu. Lets hope i do that too. Till my next post its Krishna signing off!! Adios.

KP
THE DEVILZ ADVOCATEKrishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-50701443042027520112008-03-07T20:38:00.000-08:002009-03-21T10:29:44.507-07:00Women (In)EqualityHello everyone. Nice to meet you after a brief lull. So whats this post gonna be. Am i going to be a pro - feminist and say women must be given equal rights and blah and blah or is it goin to be a post dominated by male chauvinism.... Well read on, you may find that out.

I was watching the railway budget session, Lalluji made some announcement about concession to all women till they complete their graduation. I thought thats a decent move to woo the female voters.

A couple of days after this, a friend of mine called me and said check the class groups, it seems some news about Microsoft placement. And when I checked the group mail, I was kinda taken aback, astonished, dumb struck(well i still cannot find the proper adjective). The mail read thus

"Hi ppl,

A good news for our campus is that MICROSOFT was invited our college for the 'All India Placements for Women Engineers!!'

The criterion for placements if that one must me a B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in C.S.E or I.T streams only.

Girls,

Please register at www.merittrac.net/microsoft........."

Now whats microsoft thinking?? I can understand Lalluji's intentions, this being an election year. Does Microsoft think that men are incompetent or does Microsoft think "WOMEN ARE NOT CAPABLE ENOUGH TO COMPETE WITH MEN...", thats a question, the answer for which still eludes me.

Then came the Budget 2008. As a person whos gonna start earning in a few months, I was majorly interested on what PC would do about the "Direct Taxes". The first announcement regarding the increase on tax bracket from 1.1 lacs p.a to 1.5 lacs p.a came amidst loud cheers. PC followed it with a shocker "and for women 1.85 lacs p.a...."

Now why is this Inequality? Why are the major industries and the government trying to woo women? And most importantly why does a gender which dosen't just say but boasts itself of not only being equal, but also being better to their male counterparts, be happy with such announcements? Can we infer from these announcements that the claim made by most of our female counterparts are just a hollow claim with no substance? If thats not the case why do they accept such offers which clearly shows women are weaker and need extra support?

There are some questions which cannot be answered. And there are some questions which people are afraid to answer. I think i'll never get answers to my questions.

Till my next post adieu

KP - THE DEVILZADVOCATE.

P.S

What do i say here?? Just feel free to comment. Hope you all had a wonderful 2007. I would like to wish you all a very very happy, prosperous and an adventurous 2008. Its been quite sometime since i wrote my last post. My exams, project hunt and above all my innate laziness have kept me away from writing. After some pestering by my friends Raghu and Vidya, here i am writing this post. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as i enjoyed writing this. And hey, i dedicate this post to all those intelligent people who call themselves moron magnets.

Well all of us know the meaning for Moron right!!?? In case u happen to have missed the word, a "moron" is a dumb or a stupid person. So what or who is a "moron magnet"?? The meaning is quite obvious isn't it? A moron magnet is someone who attracts morons, as simple as it can get. The word "magnet" can be quite misleading and the presence of this word makes many intelligent (Duh) people calling themselves "MORON MAGNETS". Now why is the word 'magnet' misleading?? Magnets attract, but its unlike poles which attract in the physical magnet. And this property of magnetism makes it quite fashionable and attractive for the usage of this phrase. Isn't this usage justified? And ain't I being a big moron saying "Like poles attract"??

Well its very true that this property of magnetism holds really good in physical magnets, but, with respect to human magnets will the same law hold good. Now lets think of this scenario for a moment. We do make friends right? What do you think will be the criteria?? Compatibility, cohesiveness, ability to make adjustments to name a few. Now how possible or probable is it for two individuals with strikingly dissimilar likes and characteristics to strike a great, thick and close friendship and on the other side what will be the possibility or probability of two individuals with almost similar or complementing characteristics being best buddies?

Wanna think more. Lets take it to the next level. Would you want a life partner with very contrasting characteristics or would you prefer a guy/gal who complements your thoughts and lifestyle?

We all talk about matching wavelengths? With what kind of people do we expect matching wavelengths? Now if we are able to answer all the questions, it will give us a good idea about the characteristics of human magnets. Now I leave it to my readers to decide on whether I am justified in saying Moron Magnets - "Like Poles attract" after trying to think about the questions put forth previously. Your comments are always weclome and till my next post adios.

KP - The devilzadvocate

P.S:

The human attraction theory is very complex and i dealt only with the majority of cases. Don't start an argument citing few exceptions. I believe that i dealt with a fact in majority of cases and if you find this contradictory i am open for arguments.

There can be arguments and comments and please don't start a fight out here. The Devilzadvocate is back. Special thanks to Raghu, for its because of him i took out some time from my busy schedule(Which includes playin games, watchin TV and sleeping) and writing
this post. This post is dedicated to Raghu and to all those people who have experienced what this post is all about.

Friendship and love are the two most beautiful words in any language. And i believe most of us would have experienced both in some way or the other. But the thing which bamboozles everyone like a Muralitharan's doosra is the transistion from friendship to love. I would say this is something which has the potential to torment or give the butterfly effect when ya think about it. It is said that there is a thin line which separates friendship and love, but the thing which goes unsaid is that you would never know as to when you breach that laksman rekha. Infact its a pity that sometimes people who cross the line fail to realize or dont want to realize the fact. King khan in his film Kuch Kuch hota hai quotes a few lines which conveys the meaning that his best friend would become his lover. Is this always the case? Do people really think it this way? The billion rather trillion Euro question is "Is it a Sin to propose a friend(with the intention of making him/her a lifelong partner)??" Well the irony is that people not only consider this a sin, but say something like "BETRAYAL OF FRIENDSHIP". According to me betrayal is too heavy a word to use. The acceptance or dismissal of the proposal according to me is strongly governed by the LADDER THEORY. It holds good especially for girls... No offences meant, but lets face the fact. Its mostly girls who say " How can you say like this? U had betrayed our friendship. Friendship has lost its sanctity because of you and blah blah blah..." Goes on and on (even Duracell batteries will loose the race here). My poser to all those great minds would be " Dont you people think that keeping something in his/her mind and sham around as if nothing is happening is a bigger crime??". "Is it not a desirable quality to speak out your mind?". Its time we grow up and accept certain facts as they are. If people say that understanding is the most important thing you expect from a person who is gonna share your life, whats the furore if a good friend with whom there is a considerable understanding expresses his/her desire?
So am I coming to say that you should accept a proposal from a friend? The answer to this question is a definite and a BIG "No". What I want to say is dont go around slinging mud on the person who had committed the only offence of loving you. If thats what you think should be done... Bang your head once and start using your brains.

KP - THE DEVILZADVOCATE

P.S:

If you have been on the receiving end, then one thing i would say is "Don't loose heart. You should rather be happy and thank god for saving you from a person who doesn't deserve your love and your friendship. Yaaruku theriyum innoruvati ungaluku bulb yeriyalam, mani adiakalaam and this time its a story with the happy ending.

If you think that u are being pestered by someone to love them. Then make them realize that love doesnt come by pestering. If the other person is an ass, then it warrants a more strict approach.

Now dont give me the story that u love ur country, love ur parents blah blah blah. You must know what love i am talkin about. If u don't either u are a 5 year old kid or a brainless moron.

If you are gonna comment please dont be a coward and send it as anonymous. If you are not brave enough then you are not fit to comment.

I would love to listen to your views.

And finally i couldn't find an appropriate word to put in the title. I had filled with "?". If you think that you can give me the word that i am looking for please do post it as a comment. And that person who gives the word i am looking for would get a "Diary Milk"(You gotta come and get it from me.)Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-49513821135462215542007-09-07T09:15:00.000-07:002009-03-13T11:07:01.492-07:00College syllabusWe use Java dont we?? The movie turned out to be nothing but disappointment for most of the Harry Potter fans( People who read the book, I think, will agree with me.). Then came "the Deathly hallows" with sky rocketing expectations. "The half blood prince" had set a very good platform and uncountable speculations as to whats going to happen in the final edition of the Harry Potter series. The book starts with the Dark Lord ascending to power terrorizing the wizarding and the muggle community alike. The boy who lived has a mission entrusted by Dumbledore, that of finding and destroying the Horcruxes, thereby putting a halt to the Dark Lord's rule. So what can you expect when the Dark Lord raises to power? Deaths of course... This book has the maximum number of characters loosing their lives facing the Dark Lord's wrath. Ron and Hermoine as usual accompany Mr. Potter in his mission. They have no clue as to where the Horcruxes are hidden and what they were going to face. They are left with a golden snitch, the deluminator and a children's book which Dumbledore had left them. Their miseries are increased when a book by Rita Skeeter brings into light some unbelievable facts about Dumbledore.

With Dark Lord hot on their trail and virtually no help the story moves on find answers to innumerbale questions which were left unanswered in "The Half Blood Prince". Who is RAB? Is Snape a traitor or whether he killing Dumbledore was "For a greater good"? The life and lies of Albus Dumbledore. What are the "Deathly Hallows"? The romance involved. Is Dumbledore really dead? Is Harry one of the Horcrux? And the most vital "will the boy who lived survive"? The best way to know the answers for these question is to read the book or eh wait for the movie( I hope justice is done atleast to this version of Harry Potter.) or ask your friends who had already read the book(You are sure to miss some key points this way). The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is unmistakably the best book of the Harry Potter series( It may tend to get emotional some times and you may feel that you are watching a Indian movie.... But you never get bored). "All was well" is the final sentence of the book. This book is worth your money and hope you have a good read.

THE DEVILZADVOCATE

KPKrishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-75278572387511389952007-07-16T09:10:00.000-07:002009-03-21T10:34:11.531-07:00NANOTECHNOLOGY - From fiction to realityThe following is an article which i wrote for my symposium souvenier. I had compiled information from various sources including wiki and how stuff works. Hope its useful for a beginner.

The Devilzadvocate - KP

“Good things come in small quantities” goes a popular saying. Imagine that you are able to manipulate individual atoms so as to give shape to a product with the precise structure. Are we talking science fiction? Or does it sound impossible and crazy? We are talking nanotechnology.

What is it? And is it new??
Nanotechnology is an umbrella term that is used to describe a variety of techniques to fabricate materials and devices on a nanoscale. One nanometer is one billionth of a meter which is roughly the size of 10 hydrogen atoms put together. Using nanoparticles is not something new. It might be interesting to note that nanoparticles were used by the Chinese and Romans some thousand years ago. Degusssa since 1920’s have been producing carbon black, which makes the car tyres black and improves their resistance to wear and tear. Then what’s special in this technology that it attracts lots of funds and every organization is pumping in money for research into this field. The answer is quite simple the people we discussed about didn’t have any control over the particle size nor were they aware of the nanoscale which we are talking about. The thing which is new about nanotechnology is not only our ability to manipulate things on the nanoscale but to have a greater understanding of the atomic scale interactions.

Construction using atoms:
Assemblers: Assemblers can be programmed to manipulate atoms and molecules at will
Replicators: Replicators are programmed to create more assemblers.

Trillions of assemblers and replicators will work together to construct a product. It might be interesting to note that trillions of assemblers and replicators will occupy an area lesser than one cubic millimeter and will be invisible to the human eye.

Applications – An overview:
Nanotechnology has a wide range of applications ranging from manufacturing industry to the field of medicine. In manufacturing industry it can be used to produce stronger and cost effective consumer goods. If we can succeed in replication of food grains we could remove famines from the face of earth.
It can be used to fabricate processors and memory devices with high speed and storage capacity but in the size of a sugar cube. Nanotechnology has a great impact in the field of medicine. It has a wide range of applications like modifying the cancer cells and virus to make them harmless, to provide oxygen to the RBC’s, to perform surgeries which require no incision, the list goes on. It is also said that we can use nanobots to increase the life expectancy and reduce the aging process.

Nanobots – Weapons of Mass destruction:
There has been numerous works of fiction elucidating the use of nanobots in the field of warfare and the after effects. Nanobots with their limited ability to mutate and replicate can pose little or no threats. One nanobot of the nature which would be of interest in this regard is the “Virus”.

The birth of a new revolution:
Nanotechnology has the capacity to revolutionize the future era. If the promises offered by this technology are realized fully we can be assured of a better quality of life with durable goods and a healthy life. Any technology which is used against the principles of nature will lead to imbalance and hence destruction. Nanotechnology is no exception.Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-56443851919612355222007-06-23T21:22:00.000-07:002009-03-24T05:43:11.279-07:00SIVAJI - THE "MASS"

After a wait of around 3 years another Rajni film gets released and the craze for his films seems to increase exponentially. So whats Sivaji all about? Why was it able to gross around 25 crores in the first week? Why were people willing to shell out hundreds and sometimes thousands, of their hard earned money, to get a ticket during the first week? The answer for all the above questions is one name, that of a man who rules tamil cinema with his superior style, "RAJNI". Another notable name which was eclipsed in this film was that of director Shankar. Shankar commands his own audience and has produced big hits even when there are no big names. So is Sivaji Rajni's film or Shankar's film? I could see the touches of Shankar only in the songs and quite a bit in the first half. Sivaji is an out and out Rajni film with some minor refreshing changes. Notable among these changes are the intro music when name Rajni gets displayed, Rajni getting hit for a change by the Villan, the song sequence during the first night and the appearance of MGR during the final stages of the film.

The story of Sivaji is nothing new. Its about an NRI who comes to India and wants to do good for the people. As usual the baddies don't like it and give him a lot of trouble. The hero triumphs finally..... Errrr.......Haven't you heard these kinda stories somewhere?? Shankar's films are known for the messages it gives to the public and this film is no different. The "BLACK MONEY" which is hoarded in India and what can happen to the nation if the black money turns white has been stated in very smooth flowing screenplay. Shreya plays the lady love of Rajni and provides cloying glamour in the song sequences. She looks cute as a homely "Tamil Ponnu" in the rest of the movie. Vivek has done a good job with his comedy. One more name which deserves limelight is that of the Villan, Suman a.k.a Adisheshan(in the film). He fits perfectly well in this role. Sparks fly in the face to face sequences between Rajni and Suman. Some notable cameos are that of Raja(Pattimandram), Solomon Pappaiya, Vadivukarasi, Livingston and Raghuvaran.

It's a pity that a talented actor like Manivannan has been made to sit without any scope for acting. I didn't even see him speaking a lot of dialouges. Nayanthara has cut down a lot of fat and is unrecognizably beautiful in Balleleka song. The Music by AR Rehman lives upto its reputition. The picturisation of all the song sequences are good. The fact that Rajni has added some fat in his belly region is evident in cetrain sequences. The sets for Vaa je vaa je, Sahana and Athiradikaaran are extravagent. Athiradikaaran especially with a cowboy type of setting is a pleasure to watch. All the stunt sequences are brilliant evevthough they may defy logic and all the physics laws. You will definitely enjoy the stunt sequences. They are youthful and the camera has been used very well in these sequences.

The first half is light filled with romance and comedy whereas in the second half Rajni manifests into a Messiah. His new style with the one rupee coin and his trademark punch dialouges( Thankfully he has kept it to a minimum and haven't made them cliches) are refreshing. I could see the traces of Gentleman, Mudalvan and Swades in this particular film. The film lacks a solid story and mark me if there was some other hero it would have been brushed aside...

My rating: Nah watch it and rate it yourself...

Bottomline: Rajni, Rajni, Rajni, Rajni.............................................Rajni -The "MASS" Prevails.... Chumma pera ketale Athirum.........

KPKrishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-6311086262204671532007-06-15T02:04:00.000-07:002009-03-21T10:32:20.920-07:00GRE - Hap or Diligence? Its been quite some time since my last blog post. My sem exams and then GRE had kept me away from blogging. After a bit of deliberation as to what my come back post is gonna be about, I decided it would be more useful if I share my GRE experiences with you. In this post I'll try to answer the basic question of "Whats matters the most in your GRE - luck or hard work?", then there some tips on how to go about things and finally some links which will help you in your GRE prep.

Before I took my exams, many test takers to whom i spoke said that a person should have considerable amount of luck to get a very good score in his/her GRE. Being an ardent believer in industriousness and intellect I had always rubbished the role of luck in competetive exams. After my own experience I am forced to change my opnion in this regard. Luck does play a major role in your GREs. Since's it a computer adaptive test the questions which you get and the order in which you get them plays a very major role in determining your scores. If you think that you can get away with just your luck, then it would be better if someone hits you on your head so that you could stop hallucinating. Luck is a big factor but its not the only factor. So make sure you put in a lot of hard work and leave rest to God(Note: If you are an atheist, leave it to the future).

Here are some tips which may be of some use.....

GENERAL:

Book your dates around 4 months before the time you intend to write. This would help you to pace your prep.

It is advisable to have the required documents before you book your dates.

Never take your quants lightly. Many people have a tendency to take quants for granted. Just don't do it. GRE quants is easy but there are a lot of pitfalls. So Beware.

The sooner you start the better it is( I am talkin about effective prep not just lazing around with Barron's or Kaplan's or any other XYZ book in your hand).

Try to plan your prep and most importantly try to stick on to your plans as much as possible.

Prepare effectively: It is not the number of hours you prepare which counts but the number of hours you prepare effectively which counts.

Try to take as many practise tests as possible. They help you in spotting your weak areas. Your final GRE scores will mostly lie near the average of your last 5 practise tests.

Try to take more number of CAT's. The traditional paper and pencil practise tests may help in the beginning but during the fag end of your prep take more number of CAT's.

Don't look at GRE as a burden, Instead look at it as challenge. Enjoy studying and this will help you a lot(just trust me with this one....).

VERBAL:

WORD LISTS:

Try to get familiarized with the wordlist. Mark the difficult words and work more on it.

If you have ample time in your hands, it will definitely not be a bad idea to prepare your own, custom made flash cards. You can include the word clusters if possible in them.

Try to get familiarized with the root and stem words(Kaplan has this).

Make sure you know the secondary meanings. Many GRE questions or based on secondary meanings rather than the common meanings.

If you dont feel comforatable studying the wordlists in a orderly fashion try studying it in a random manner. This will definitely help you to break the monotony of words with similar phonetics.(I would personally suggest studying in a random manner).

Make it a point to revise the words you have studied the previous day.

Try using the newly learnt words as much as possible. Read them contextually rather than blindly muggin em up.

If you have very little time for your prep then don't emphasize too much on muggin up the words. Its better to be exposed to 500 words rather completely knowing 50 words.

Try to learn in intervals. Never sit with your wordlists longer than couple of hours. Give the brain some refresh time.

ISSUE AND ANALYSIS TASKS:

Don't follow too many formats. Browse through all the formats and select the one which suits you the best( Stick to it. Don't keep changing formats it will harm you rather than helping you).

I appreciate the fact that you have learnt lot of new words during the course of your preparation but don't flaunt it in your essays. It's bound to irritate the evaluators.

You have the option to choose between two topics in issue task. Don't be hasty in choosing the topic. Study both the topics and choose the one for which you can do better justice. The time split which I generally use is as follows.

2 mins - To study both the topics

10 mins - To note down suitable points for both the essays and selection of a topic based on your comfort zone.

3 mins - To make a mental note of the flow of your essay.

25 mins - Typing your essay.

5 mins - Proof reading your essay.

The analysis task is comparatively easy. Make sure you find all the flaws in the given argument and never use phrases like "I feel", " I think"... etc. Remember that he is not asking for your opinion. You don't have a choice for an analyis task. Use 5 mins to note down the flaws. 20 mins to type your essay and another 5 mins for typechecking.

(NOTE: The time split up given here is ideal for a person who can type at a decent rate.)

ANALOGIES, ANTONYMS AND SENTENCE COMPLETION:

Try to know as many words as possible.

Forming a sentence using the words given in analogies may help you to elimante similar looking choices.

There will definitely be a hint for the right answer in the sentence completion question. Identify it and use it.

Beware of similar looking answers. Don't be hasty. After selecting your answer spend some extra ten seconds to confirm your answer.

These sections can be used to save some valuble time so be fast and accurate.

READING COMPREHENSION:

I would never suggest skimming through the passages.

Try to understand the context of passage and the author's mood.

While answering try to put yourself in author's shoes.

Never get mislead by the most obvious wrong answer.

There are around six types of question which can be asked in RC. Beware of those and try to catogerize the question which had been asked( You will find tactics about answering the specified type and details about various types in any good GRE guide).

Put in a little extra effort and a little extra time.

Don't get bogged down if you can't understand a single sentence. Move on. Ideally you can spend at the max around 2 to 2.5 mins for a 100 line RC.

Better practise to read faster(not just fast but also make sure you understand the meaning while you read fast).

Be prepared to face 3 RC's in a row. That is the worst case possible.

QUANTS:

Try to get familiarized with all the shortcuts and all possible formulae.

Speed counts here. Select a method which will yield the correct choice in the shortest amont of time.

Try to note down all the formulae seperately for quick refernce. This will definitely help you.

The QC questions are easy but tricky. You can save a lot of time there. Make sure to read the question properly(For example when he says an integer it means both positive as well as negative).

DI questions can be time consuming but is workable.

You can eliminate some choices in standard multiple choice questions. They are workable if you have a good knowledge of your formulae.

EXAM DAY AND DURING YOUR EXAM:

Take all the necessary documents.

Stay cool. Stop studying on the day of your exam. It's of no use banging your head with the books on the day of exam.

Reach the centre an hour before the start of exam and feel comfortable.

Try to avail the ten min break between the sections to regroup.

Pens, watches, papers, calci are not allowed. He provides you with scratch papers and pencils for working out.

He provides you a locker to keep your things so if you want take your cell phones and other stuff but leave it in locker.

Don't indulge in malpractise. You will end up as the biggest looser if you try doing it. All sessions are video and audio taped.

Try to answer the first ten questions in each of the sections correctly. This is going to decide your scores.

If you feel that you had done a particular section badly don't panic. Its not the end of the story. No prizes for guessing! Ya, its about the Cricket world cup 2007. This World cup was made interesting not because of the quality of cricket or the nail biting finishes but because of the controversies. To sum it up this world cup ended up as a big disappointment. The turnout was the worst in the history of world cup, the government ban not allowing musical instruments inside the stadium made the matters worse. People had to pay more money for the tickets and this made them to happily sit in front of their TV sets instead of going out to the ground.

The shocking elimination of India and Pakistan from the super 8's also contributed to the reduction in interest levels, notably in the subcontinet. The performance of India especially was very dismal given the media hype and the pay they enjoy. The slogans "Hoo haa India aaya India" in short "Come on India" came true as they packed their bags and returned home as soon as possible. Hope they will get some revenge by crushing Bangladesh in their forthcoming tour(It's just a hope guys.... With India you may never know!!). The only saving grace for the Indian team this world cup was their world record 413/5 against the hapless Berumdians.

The death or rather "the MURDER" of Bob Woolmer, the pakistani coach was one of the most shocking incidents of this world cup. He was an excellent coach and a great human being. I pray for his soul to rest in peace and hope the people responsible for this macabre act are bought to justice.

At the end of this world cup many of the best exponents of the game decided to hang up their boots. We can view the exquisite and stylish stroke play of Brain Lara, the lazy and easy shots of Inzaman, the lethal and accurate bowling of Glenn McGrath and the powerful hitting of Craig McMillan only in the recorded versions being telecasted in the TV. My salutations to these gentlemen who were great ambassadors of this game.

The two cricket teams which threw a few surprises were the Bangladeshis and the Irish. I was impressed with the Irish in particular. They played really well for a team which makes it debut in world cup. The Bangladeshis have definitely silenced their crtics by winning the games against India and the then ranked No 1 team, South Africa. These are the teams to be watched out in future and hope ICC provides them with more funds so that they could improve their infrastructure.

Both the semi finals played in this world cup turned out to be a single sided game with Sri Lanka overpowering NewZealand by 81 runs(It's a pity that they are loosing their fifth semi final in the world cup history) and Australia crushing South Africa by 7 wickets(SA's dream of winning the coveted trophy has to wait for another 4 years).

Sri Lanka and Australia were to compete against each other to take home the cup. Was it going to be a repeat of 1996 world cup or will Australia once again establish its supremacy was a question which had to be answered. The rain played a party pooper by reducing the play to 38 over per side. The Aussies won the toss and elected to bat. Within minutes Gilchrist, the person who had a relatively poor run in this tournament, took the game away from Lankans. His 149 of 104 balls with 13 boundaries and 8 powerful strikes into the stands almost sealed the game for Aussies. The Lankans had to chase a nearly unsurmountable target of 282 from 38 overs to end the Australian dream run of 27 consecutive world cup victories. The Lankans put up a brave show but the Aussies had the last laugh. The rain again played spoilsport during the Lankan innings. The Umpires called off the game and the Australians celebrations was cut short by the umpires decision to continue the game. Finally at the end of 36 overs the play was called off and Australians won by 53 runs according to Duckworth Lewis method. Gilchrist was named man of the match and McGrath playing his last one day international was named player of the series. The Aussies once again proved that they are nearly invincible by achieving "THE CARREBIAN HATRICK".

Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994394198438107426.post-63203247363959958252007-04-18T10:09:00.000-07:002009-03-21T10:34:57.478-07:00The wait ends hereI had wanted to own a blog for quite a long time. But my commitments and my friend Ragu's laziness had made me postpone my plans indefinitely. Finally 'D' day came and now I own a blog - "My Blog". So what this blog gonna be like? Techie oriented? Fun oriented? Philosophical stuff? Gossips? Rated 'A'? Hmmm.... I just don't wanna commit anything on the nature of my blog as of now, you will be knowing it when my blog gets populated with contents. This being my first blog post I just don't wanna stop with an introduction/advertisement... So what shall I write about?? What would be the best beginning? Finally I decided to speak something about "THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE"...

I browsed the WWW and the definition given there was "One who argues against a cause or position, not as a committed opponent but simply for the sake of argument or to determine the validity of the cause or position". I somehow feel that injustice has been done to this term while phrasing the meaning. A Devil's Advocate according to me is one who's views are not commonplace. The audacious Devil's Advocate revolutionizes the thinking in a stereotype society. He may fail but he would have made an impact, an impact which would turn his failures into a success. He may face defeat in the present but the future belongs to the DEVILZ ADVOCATE.

Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04634735125427248066noreply@blogger.com11
